The 2020 BET awards which took place on the 28th of June, 2020 was broadcast live from the Microsoft theater, Los Angeles.

The ceremony marks the award show’s 20th year on air and the 40th anniversary of Black Entertainment Television, as well as the first-ever virtual ceremony in its history.

The nominees were announced on June 15, 2020. Drake received the most nominations with 6, ahead of Roddy Ricch and Megan Thee Stallion, who tied with five nominations each.

Roddy Ricch, Drake, Beyonce, Megan Thee Stallion and Chris Brown topped the night with 2 awards each.

Best Actress: Issa Rae

Youngstars award: Marsai Martin

Sportswoman of the year: Simone Biles

Sportsman of the year: LeBron James

BET HER award: Beyoncé featuring Blue Ivy Carter, Wizkid and Saint JHN, “Brown Skin Girl”

Video director of the year: Teyana Taylor

Best international act: Burna Boy (Nigeria)

Viewer’s choice: Megan Thee Stallion featuring Nicki Minaj & Ty Dolla $ign– “Hot Girl Summer”

Best new international act: Sha Sha (Zimbabwe)
